Boston Weston Contemporary Transitional Master Bathroom Suite (Part Two)
We dream of three: Feng Shui Guest Bathroom, Weston, MA
As many of you may already know, designing a bathroom is A challenge. While on the surface it may appear otherwise, a well-designed bathroom (or spa) requires so much more than meets the eye. Skillful planning, engineering and execution are major factors that reinforce a successful bathroom remodel --- and of course, special attention to appearances culminate in design. So, it seemed only fitting that Divine take the lead on this three-bathroom project in the neighboring town of Weston, Massachusetts. For Michael's experience and dedication in previous bathroom remodels (outside of his expansive portfolio of work) led the clients to the designer at hand. Consequently, Michael worked closely with the owners of this 1980's abode to infuse elements of Asian-inspired themes with the ultra modern.
Next up? The upstairs guest bathroom...
The before of this guest bath was clad with an array of major design faux-pas. And, while we love Bill Murray in the all-pink bathroom scene of Groundhog Day, we do not love an all pink bathroom. Thankfully, Divine is here to save the proverbial day. Major renovations occurred in the case of the guest bathroom, which included, but was not limited to, the expansion of the entry breezeway --- requiring the bringing back of the original-standing retaining wall. Furthermore, similar floating vanities were designed, with an under mounted sink.
Additionally, stunning, shell tiling, which plays off of the natural-inspired elements throughout all three bathrooms, are added throughout the shower niche and above the vanity as a clever nod to architectural accents. In line with accents, the designer opted to go with a contrasting engineered stone counter top from Silestone in all three bathrooms. The dark, earthy counter tops add a grounding element in this bathroom, and as well in the other powder and master baths.
Rounding out the guest bathroom we see some other fundamental design choices from Michael and his Divine team. Not only is the vanity floating, but so too are the added cabinets seen in the left-hand entry into the space. The floating, added storage like the vanity it compliments are pivotal in enunciating the "feng shui" air desired by Michael's clients. The, for lack of better term, space below, these cabinets creates a ever-moving flow of energy, and alleviates any hint of stagnation in the space. Thus, the serenity so commonly associated with the "spa" comes to fruition through Michael's design success in this Weston home.
