BOSTON BROOKLINE MODERN CONTEMPORARY LEICHT KITCHEN WALNUT ISLAND

Rustic Wood Meets High Gloss Lacquer in this Brookline, MA Kitchen Renovation

As the summer begins to etch in, so too does the need for a space that is light, and at the center of attention. Summer means friends and family gatherings. Summer means being one with the functionality of a  space in lieu of imminent warm conditions. So, when we drafting this job, how many months back, he saw this cozy New England Colonial at the center of many a great family meals to come. The challenge, as almost always previously discussed, was to take this colonial out of the dark ages. And, in doing that, the Divine Design & Build designer sprung this modern kitchen into an age all of its own.

Michael and his clients decided to go with Leicht, the modern, German cabinet line, that DDB holds a longstanding relationship - one that has cultivated intricate notions of experience amongst the design team. With that in mind, it is Michael's understanding of this manufacturer and their trend towards functionality in storage that elevates this product.

Additionally, Michael integrates elements such as the magic corner, interior drawer + cabinet lighting, tall unit single fronts, front extensions, and interior fitments. Now, if that wasn't enough of a mouth full, one of the highlights of this kitchen is the paneled appliances masterfully sewn into this seamless kitchen design.

Speaking of which, behind all of the paneled fronts lie a Sub-Zero integrated refrigerator + freezer column, Sub-Zero refrigerator drawers, and a Sub-Zero under-counter wine storage system. Furthermore, a Wolf induction cooktop, wall oven + convection steam oven, and a Wolf microwave drawer were also incorporated into the final design.

Another striking facet of this gleaming, modern kitchen is the custom wood top extension that comes out of the kitchen island. It is here that the opportunity for impromptu gatherings holds so much potential for magic.

Furthermore, The space of this kitchen - be it the skillfully placed wood- melamine fronts in cooperation with the glowing high-gloss lacquer base + upper units are both telling of Divine’s designerly chops. In a similar fashion, the space within the kitchen is maximized in ways unforeseen to the untrained-in-design eye. For example, the bar area, and the multiple nooks and crannies effected in both form and functionality round out a solution that is more than beautiful; but, rather, outstanding.
